Foundation grants ensure that we can operate multiple food assistance programs that end hunger and help improve the lives of people living in poverty. When you partner with the San Francisco Food Bank, you can be assured that we have:
- A strong record of meeting and exceeding our grants-related goals, with effective systems in place for monitoring, evaluating, and reporting on progress
- A long-standing, dedicated base of volunteers and financial donors supporting food collection and distribution activities—nearly 60% of our operating revenue comes from individual community donors
With significant broad-based community support, the San Francisco Food Bank was established in 1987 and now ranks at the top of other food banks in the country in pounds of food distributed per person in poverty.
The Food Bank partners with more than 220 foundations to purchase equipment for our warehouse and to expand and initiate new food distribution programs that improve the health and stability of low-income people in San Francisco.
We encourage you to review our annual report, audited financial statements (pdf), IRS 990 Form (pdf), or IRS 501(c) (3) letter (pdf). Our tax identification number is 94-3041517. The San Francisco Food Bank operates on a July 1 – June 30 fiscal year.
Whether you are interested in making a challenge grant, funding one of the San Francisco Food Bank’s programs, or supporting the general operating expenses for food distribution, the San Francisco Food Bank’s Development Department stands ready to discuss the many opportunities available.
