Food from the Bar
Many thanks to Allen Matkins for producing this video.
One in four children in San Francisco and Marin are in need of food assistance. During summer months, children lose access to school food programs, causing their families to be even more dependent on Food Bank programs to get the food they need.
Food from the Bar is the legal community’s response to hunger. Last year, 70 firms from across San Francisco raised $562,669, donated 9,729 pounds of food, and completed 889 volunteer hours.
Because the Food Bank is able to distribute $6 worth of food for each dollar donated, last year’s campaign provided over $3 million worth of food to those in need in our community
- $580,000
- 10,000 pounds of food
- 700 volunteer hours
The Bar Association of San Francisco has been a key sponsor of the campaign since its inception. This year, the campaign has been extended to Marin firms, and the Marin County Bar Association has joined the effort.
