Federal Funding Cuts Hit The Food Bank

pantry view

San Francisco will lose $592,000 in federal funding for vital social service programs this year due to new rules set by the national Emergency Food and Shelter Program, overseen by FEMA.

This will directly impact the San Francisco Food Bank, cutting $161,000 in funding this year — just when we’re seeing record-breaking need for food assistance in our community. To find out more, read the article that just appeared in the San Francisco Chronicle.

The good news is that the Food Bank remains strong and continues to serve more than 30,000 households that turn to our pantries each week — thanks to supporters like you. In fact, we’re planning to increase our food distribution yet again this year to more than 45 million pounds.

But we can't do it without you. You can keep the Food Bank strong and help us fill the federal funding gap when you make a gift today.
