Year-round volunteer support is essential for the Food Bank, helping us to get much-needed groceries to San Franciscans in need. Our volunteer community assists with sorting through food donations, repacking bulk food items, assembling grocery boxes, stocking pantry shelves and many other active projects in our warehouse. Volunteers provide work equivalent to 50 full-time employees, a crucial contribution to our fight against hunger.

Weekday volunteers: Street parking is free, and our block has a new 4-hour time limit-- perfect for our volunteer shifts! Please utilize available street parking first so that our agency shoppers can use our parking lot to load their vehicles. If street parking is full, please pull into our lot to check for spaces.
Evening and weekend volunteers: You're welcome to utilize our parking lot as agencies do not shop at this time. Additional street parking is free and abundant.
We will provide everything you need to complete your volunteer project. Please wear closed-toe shoes (no sandals, flip-flops or opened-toe shoes) and grubby work clothes. A sweatshirt or extra layer is recommended as the temperature in our warehouse is often quite cool.
