Up to 10 tractor trailer loads of fresh fruits and vegetables move through the Food Bank each week. This year, we aim to distribute over 20 million pounds of fresh produce -- and we couldn't do it without you!
Community Service Requirements
To receive credit for your school's community service requirements, please keep a log of the dates and shift-times that you have volunteered at the San Francisco Food Bank.
Our Volunteer Services team can verify your hours only if you have kept a log that we can cross-reference with our calendar. Click here for a hour-tracking form. If you would like a volunteer verification letter printed on official San Francisco Food Bank letter head, email our Volunteer Coordinator at volunteer@sffb.org. Please include your full name, mailing address and a list of the dates and times you came in to volunteer.
Allow a few days for us to process your request; no letters or time-sheets will be sent electronically. You may self-select the method you would like your community service hours verified, and be sure that this matches with the expectations of your school and community groups.

Volunteer Reservations
To inquire about available project dates, please send us an email with the following information:
- Your full name and phone number
- Specific dates and shift times for which you'd like to check availability
- A note if you'll be scheduling for others, as well
- The name of the school you attend and the grade you're in
Middle and elementary school students require an adult chaperone at the projects.
Our Volunteer Services team responds to e-mail inquiries within two business days, in the order that they are received.
Please note that our staff must confirm your project reservation-- we are not able to accommodate drop-in volunteers for our food sorting projects.
